Lecture 2: Cellular Recording and Memory: Approaches and Uses

Recording environmental and biological information across cell populations over time enables new systems for biosurveillance and cellular sentinels. In this lecture, I will discuss the framework to chronicle cellular events using DNA-based cellular recording devices. Strategies to design, implement and assess these recording systems will be described as well as key technical considerations and quantitative evaluation metrics. I will highlight emerging uses of these systems for synthetic biology, physiology, and developmental biology.
